Tarot to me is the language of inutuion and energies. Everything that the cards show me is already in my thoughts, fears, and desires. All they do is guide me to those emotions and ask me to reflect on it. Currently I just want read cards for fun and for my own personal guidance because I still have a lot to learn. Eventually I would like to do readings for others here and there. As part of my Tarot 101 series I wanted to chat a little deeper with yall about what called me to tarot in the first place.
“Tarot is the storybook of our life, the mirror to our soul, and the key to our inner wisdom. ” Biddy Tarot
The first time I googled tarot cards it was because I wanted to know if it was frowned upon or not to get a tattoo of a tarot card. For some reason I assumed that it might be bad luck or disrespectful because I knew the cards had a spiritual meaning for some people. Before I knew it, I was 3 hours into a google search about tarot cards and what they’re all about. I thought about it nonstop for almost a week. At the time I was honestly drawn to the idea of the tarot cards being tiny works of art that you could collect that teach you the language of intuition. Almost like pokemon cards but sexier. I couldn’t wait to start collecting. I went straight to my local Barnes and Noble and purchased the classic Wild Uknown Tarot Deck by Kim Kranns. I was so wrong. Tarot is way more than pokemon cards and I’m a jerk for even thinking that in the first place lol.
I was feeling really lost and unsure about what I wanted to do next with my life at the time that I bought my tarot deck. I also didn’t trust myself to follow through with anything that I start because I always lost motivation to keep going halfway through the process. I knew that if I wanted to actually learn how to use my deck then I was going to have to practice everyday. I accept this challenge and a week later I hadn’t skipped a day doing a reading for myself and then the next week came, and then the next. This seems like a small victory that I’m overly hyping but literally building a habit turned into being more productive, which has led to me being happier. I credit this blog to my cards because I showed myself that if I could make it a habit to read cards everyday then I could make it habit to make a blog post a few times a week. Let’s pray this trickles over to getting in the gym a few times a week too!
Thanks for coming back to another Tarot 101 discussion with me! If you’re new to tarot or even if you’re not, what does Tarot mean to you? I wanna know in the comments! Talk to your girl!
