Hello guys! I was super inspired by my friend Lav’s post on Imposter Syndrome, How to Deal With Imposter Syndrome. She went into great detail and even did a survey that showed just how common Imposter Syndrome is to both men and women. It’s a very insightful post, you guys should definitely check it out. Before we get into the spread, here’s the definition of imposter syndrome. According to Harvard Business Review’s website “Imposter syndrome can be defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success.”
I wanted to talk a little more about Imposter Syndrome but I wanted to try something a little different. I went on a hunt for a spread and found one on Instagram created by @emeraldlotusdivination. She posts spreads every week so be sure to check her out.
This spread will help you identify some of your behaviors regarding feeling inadequate or like a fraud. The aim is to discover what might be holding you back and how you can move past it.
Disclaimer: I haven’t done a 6 card spread yet. This was a bit of a challenge for me but it was really great practice. Here’s a photo of the cards I pulled. For each card, I will add a few keywords so that you guys can get a general idea of what the cards mean. Let’s see what the cards had to say.
In the first position, Why I Feel Like an Imposter, we have the 3 of Swords. 3 of Swords Keywords: Negative emotions, dispair, sorrow. The first thing that jumps out at me with this card is how it’s mostly grey and its raining. To me this says “get out of your head” negative dialogue will usually result in you feeling bad about yourself or in this case, feeling undeserving.
In the second position, Something About Myself I Need to Acknowledge, we have the Judgement card. Judgment Keywords: Higher Calling, Worthy, Life purpose. Again I see more grey but this time the clouds are making way for the angel that the people seen in the image are waiting for with open arms. The Judgement card says “you’re on the right path! You have found your purpose and you are worthy of the praise that others give you.
In the third position, How I Can Stop Comparing Myself to Others, we have Temperance. Temperance Keywords: Balance, Harmony. The Temperance card is here to remind you to find balance in being inspired by someone and being envious of them. If you look at the photo the angel is pouring water from one cup into another while standing with one foot in the pond and one foot out. To me, that symbolizes control and balance of emotions.
The King of Cups is in the fourth position, An Action I Can Take To Help Me Feel Less Like An Imposter. King of Cups Keywords: Considerate, Understanding, Protective. The King of Cups is King of Emotions. Be nicer to yourself! Be considerate of your own feelings to stop yourself from feeling like an imposter.
The 3 of Wands is in the fifth position, A Message I Need to Hear. 3 of Wands Keywords: Plans in motion, Results, Opportunities. The 3 of Wands wants you to know that you are on the right path. I notice how much brighter this card is in comparison to the others. The plans that you have in motion are starting to progress and the opportunities you crave are on the horizon.
Lastly, to finish off the spread in the position, Why I Am Deserving of All That I Have, we have The Emperor. The Emperor Keywords: Leadership, Clear Vision, Experience. You are a BOSS. A true leader, you just have to own it. The Emperor brings us authoritative energy, BDE, if you will. He sits upon a grey thrown adorned with ram heads. To me, this says that you can conquer all of that grey that we had going on at the beginning of this spread.
I hope this reading will resonate with some of you. We all go through a time where we question our successes. Here’s a message I want to leave you with: You are awesome. You are worthy of all the success that comes your way. Take a few hours every day and step away from social media. Unfollow anyone that makes you feel like you inadequate. Unfollow any page that doesn’t give off positive vibes. These are just a few tips that I leave with you today. Thank yall so much for coming back to read my blog! I’m grateful for every last one of you.
